Unexpected Homes

Unexpected Homes is a daydream about living and working spaces. They are wooden architectures, unreal but feasible, born from the interaction between a state of mind and an imaginary place.
Nautoscopio

Nautoscopio is a sea shelter anchored to the rocky cliffs. By day it frames the sea while at night it turns towards the erupting volcano. Under a stormy sea it raises itself onto its mainmast. The prototype has been made and is installed on the waterfront in Palermo, Sicily.

Torre Maestra
Torre Maestra is a stilted wooden dwelling in a marshy land. It is imagined as a pre-existing structure, with two diaphanous inside spaces, and a long brise-soleil cutting the panorama horizontally.

Trinidad
Trinidad is a metaphysical vision of a stranded shipwreck, resurfed from the desert sands. It is the dismantled section of a huge keel with its mast step, appearing from a distance like a large wooden rose window. The main mast is underground within the belly of the ship.

Caruso flagship store - 45, East 58th St, New York
The Flying-Home, Milan
Set up the ping-pong net on one of the industrial-style tables. Wheel it aside to lower down a suspended bed, wrapped in steel, from an intricately beamed wooden ceiling.
The Encampment house, Milan
Aveda Flagship store, Milan
The idea of the Aveda flagship store in Milan came from The Ship of Fools, the sketches by Albrecht Dürer based on the novel of Sebastian Brant. Interpreting the vision of Brant I dimantled a boat in three parts. The Hull, the Mast, the Sail...
Philobiblon, bibliographic studio, Milan
